It would be nice if the serial numbers of the I.A.R. 39s would be included (of course, if the observer's log book still exists).

BTW, "Ju 52/3m, No. 182" did not exist in ARR. Serial numbers were between 1-35.

Well, memories can always contain some mistakes.

That's why I've asked if the respective airman's log book (carnet de zbor) still exists. If yes, we can clarify the serial numbers, etc.

As for that particular Ju 52, I don't think that after 60 years someone still remembers the serial number of an airplane he was passenger on only for a couple of times. That's why my hopes were raised that the particular serial number was taken from a document, not pure memory.

Thank you Denes because if it wasn't your demand to find some aircraft photos of WW2 in Bacau in 1999 after our first contact, I would never gone to the Vetereans Association where I met cdor Mancu Tanase.

Thank you Victor for your good willing and your great work to translate those pages. Thanks to you the memories of a forgotten (untill now) pilot are today a living testimony of the Romanian aviation.

Unfortunatly at the beggining of the 50s the famous Securitate went in cdor Macu's house when he was absent and (after his sayings) they took almost all the "testimonies" about his past life like a pilot. of course the "carnet de zbor" was took, all his medals and orders also, he had also many photos even the "famous" (he told me several times the story) photos when he and his crew discovered several big ships near Odessa. Unfortunatly, the only way to know the serial numbers is to ask him.

Mr Mancu is still alive and living in France, not far from Paris. I would want to see him again to ask him some questions but maybe Victor and Denes could help me with some precise questions.

Well, try to make something in the style Claudiu and I are interviewing veterans. Let him talk about his youth, how he got his passion for aviation, the war and the aftermath.
But make you sure you ask about the flight book
