Hello guys,
I am disappointed in this moment. Fortunately, it is a temporary feeling. I thought the topic is about the penal battalions operating in the Romanian Army. My grandfather told me that during the last days of the evacuation of Crimea, while the troops who were there since 1943 were evacuated (like his unit) new fresh troops were brought in to cover the withdrawal. These were some SS battalions from the German side, and some penal battalions from the Romanian side. These guys were supposed to be sacrificed there. My grandfather remembered: "You couldn't see a smile on their face, for any of them." Only few guys survived, SS and Romanian penal battalions altogether. Florin |

Wow, can you/someone else post some more info? I'm not familiar with the role of the penal battalions in the evacuation of Crimea.

Thanks for the warm "welcome back"! Actually, you can run on a minefield even for things you can justify... That's democracy ; but it's true that in the army, you cannot complaint, but execute tasks... Even for a lieutnant ... Best regards and happy holidays! Getu' |

This is all I know. I was still in the primary school when my grandfather died. For good reasons, he was reluctant to talk too much, because little kids are not so good in keeping secrets. Florin |

I saw Alex H was banned, yet today, on two occassions, at 3:00 pm, and 10:00 pm (forum time) I saw "him" online. The same happened when Indrid was banned. Does this happen when someone is banned, or whats going on?

This happends, I think, when the banned member is trying to access the forum using the old automatical log on. He isn't actually seeing the forum, but apparently the software registers him as browsing the forum. |

Banned members still can Log In and view the board. They cannot use the rest of the features (Post, PM, Search etc)

Der Maresal hasn't been banned here and the Indrid on AHF was not our Indrid. That one was from Germany.

From my own ban experience, banned members can only log in as Guests. And even if the software registers someone online when trying to log in, how on earth can it register them as actually browsing parts of the forum (and not just viewing Boar Index): I think C-2 is right! take care -------------------- I

For a while we used a different system for banning, the one built in the forum software. Now we just created a new users group called "Banned" and gave it Guest permissions. A guest can view a specific topic, not only the board index.

Now that Alex H. is banned, shouldn't there be a thread screaming about censorship, and denouncing the admins?
Oh, wait, it's Alex H. who would be doing that. And he's banned. |
