Hello!
Into August - Days 1944 is that to river- Gunboat ARDEAL of 23 ships of the axis in the Danube delta captured. Give it to these ships, to 4 Tugs and particularly nineteen Barges, closer data to the day, place and the names of the ships? I white not whether the war diaries of these Romanian ships in these turbulent days remained, hope however some data for this way to experience. Yours sincerely Theo |

I could only find a mention of the 1st River Group (NMS Catargiuand NMS Lahovary) and 3rd River Group (NMS Ardeal, NMS Basarabia and NMS Bucovina) which between 28 and 30 August 1944 captured 16 armed tugs, 3 artillery pontoons, an ambulance convoy and 68 barges.
The monitor NMS Ardeal was surrendered to the Soviets on 2 September 1944. The commanding officer was arrested and the crew was interned in a POW camp. I do not know if the war diary survived, or if it is in Romania or Russia. Sorry. |
