The airfield at Buzau is actually a little bit below of my arrow, where the open field begins (on the other side of railroad IIRC). In the same area there is a military cemetery.

If you look to the header of the photos you will see between brackets a small arrow followed by a number (324 for the Buzau photo, 330 for the first airfield photo and unreadable for the second airfield photo). I presume this is the orientation of the axis of the photo (this worked at least for the Bucharest photo on the previous pages). Thus, the Buzau photo is rotated by 36 degrees, and the first airfield photo is rotated by 30 degrees. |

On the second airfield foto, you can notice it is written Zilistea right near the degrees thing. :keep:

Boboc-Zilistea airfield is not so close to Buzau. I think it is closer to Ramnicu-Sarat than to Buzau. The Boboc airfield is very old. My grandfather, as child, used to go there with his uncle. My grandfather was just looking to the planes, but his uncle was employed there as military personnel. I have a family photo taken at Boboc, with a canvas biplane with wood propeller. |

Can we see it? Maybe you can find a place for it in Romanian pilots in '20 thread in The pre-WW2 military. |

First I have to create my own website. Like you guys. The coolest things are yet to come... That photo is the tip of the aisberg... Unfortunately, I cannot promise a certain day for all these. |

OK, based on that map from your link, Ramnicu-Sarat is at about 30 km from Boboc. Mea Culpa! (This is the difference between living in the country, and being in touch with the country. ) |

What is the structure on the left hand side of the photo above that seems surrounded by a moat? Is it one of the forts that surround(ed) Bucharest? Does it still exist today?
By the way, several other photos from Bucharest, Ploiesti and Giurgiu are available at http://www.461st.org/Missions/Missions.htm |
