4th Army: Colonel Hans Doerr 3rd Army: Colonel Schone. In 1941, they were: 4th Army: Major Macher 3rd Army: Lt.-Col. Lottner There were also liaison officers assigned to Romanian Corps and Divisions fighting on the Eastern Front. If you want, i can give you a list. Olga |

Yes, this would be very nice! (I'm trying to write a list of units and commanding officers in the area of 2nd Hungarian Army, 3rd Romanian Army, 4th Romanian Army, 4th German Tank Army, 6th German Army & 8th Italian Army for the time of the Battle in Stalingrad November 1942 till February 1943) MfG Michi This post has been edited by Michi on September 25, 2004 01:41 am |

On another forum I was told that Walther Wenck was the German Liaison Officer with the 3rd Romanian Army.
But I found sth differnt. According Walther Wenck I have found out: On 22nd November 1942 Walter Wenck was ordered by Manstein to fullfill the job of the Chief of Staff of the 3. Army(Romanian), BUT NOT of the German Liaison Officer, AND also to build up an Army on the Chir River. I guess the job of the German Liaison Officer was cancelled after the failure of the attack of the XXXXVIII. German Tank-Corps on 19th - 22nd November 1942. Further on I guess Wenck fullfilled both jobs. MfG Michi |

Thanks Olga & Dragos!
I will copy your list to Jason Pipes' FeldGrau Forum. At the same time, November 1942 - January/February 1943: Colonel Volkmar Schöne was the German Liaison Officer with the 3rd Romanian Army. Colonel Walther Wenck was the Chief of Staff of the 3rd Romanian Army. Thanks in advance for the future list of German Liaison Officers within the 4th Romanian Army. Do you have any idea about the size of the German Liaison Detachements with Army / Corps / Divisions?? MfG Michi |

German liaison officers for 4th Romanian Army (for some of the units) :
4th Army – Det. Nr. 2 – Col. Hans Doerr 5th Cav. Div. – Det. Nr. 19 – Cpt. Von Konig 8th Cav. Div. – Det. Nr. 21 – Maj. Aller A liaison detachment consisted of (for a Corps) : 1 staff officer, 2 other officers, 1 translator, 4 secretaries, 1 driver, 2 transmissions teams (each with 1 car and 5 motos with drivers). A divisional detachment was similar but only had 1 transmission team. I hope it helps. |
