It was raised on 20 February 1942, in order to maintain the order in Northern Trans-Dnestra, in the Moghilev, Tulcin, Jugastru and Rabnita counties. In May 1943 it was disbanded and its troops were used to reform the 5th Infantry Division lost at Stalingrad.
