It was formed on 20 February 1942 with the task to maintain order in the Golta, Tiraspol, Dubosari and Ananiev counties in Trans-Dnestra. In May 1943 it was disbanded and its troops were used to reform the 9th Infantry Division, which had suffered heavy casualties at Stalingrad.
